That's incredible. Dubai seems like such an amazing city. I love your pictures, makes me want to visit so much. The architecture is astounding, and the how the city is right on the water is beautiful.
I see you moved from Hamburg, I'm considering moving to Dubai myself, but from the US. Gotta ask, is it what it's all cooked up to be?
I mean, the lifestyle seems so luxurious and filled with glamour. But is that all smoke and mirrors? No taxes makes Dubai seem like a financial haven, but unless you're a multi-millionaire/billionaire, is the city affordable?
Dubai is indeed really nice, but it is also two-faced. If you come from a good educational background and start working here as an engineer, marketing manager or the like you will definitely be able to live a good life here. Further down the employment scale such as office clerk, salesperson, etc. it will be a bit of a struggle to make a decent living worth leaving your home country. Because you would be competing with many others from India and the Philippines who are willing to work for much less than a European or American would.
Life here is not particularly expensive at all. Foodstuff is rather cheap (except dairy products) and petrol prices are not worth mentioning. The only major cost factor is renting or buying a house or appartment. These come at prices comparable to other major cities like Singapor, New York etc. Depending on your income and the standards you wish to have it is still affordable, though. Just look at it as a replacement for income taxes
I am here for a German company so I have an Expatriate package. My rent is being paid for, we get support for the kids' education and our health insurance is also taken care of by my employer.
Overall, I do not regret my decision to come here at all! Just the summer months are really hot and humid. But from October to May we have the best weather you could imagine. Every day is a beach day
if you would like to know further details please feel free to send me a message.
